Magical Victorian near hiking / wine trail

Really cool old Victorian house that's up-to-date with nice amenities andveryclean. The host was very accommodating and helpful. We loved the space and was perfect for an October visit. Wine tasting and plenty of hiking with gorgeous views not too far away.

The house was beautiful! We were in awe of the decor and layout. This is a must-stay if you are in southern Illinois!

What an amazing space!! The Nook and Key was just as described (and more!) Pictures honestly do not do this place justice, you really have to experience it!! The craftsmanship and decor are top notch and make you feel the history of the home. Our host, Dana, has thought of everything to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. The house was filled with thoughtful amenities (everything from mouthwash to sipping scotch). She even coordinated a private chef as an add on to our stay for a special 4 course dinner experience in the formal dining room. Overall, amazing experience!! We especially loved the screened in porch, beautiful Magnolia tree and of course, the Nook under the stairs.

This 1893 vintage property was impeccable. Perfection in its decor, comfort, amenities and hospitality. Every nook and cranny in this house provided unique surprises and entertaining features. We wished we had had the time to take advantage of the murder mystery package!! Maybe next time.Our host, Dana provided warmth and charm ensuring we had maximum enjoyment. Our group traveled to Southern Illinois primarily to experience the Cache River Reserve. This unique property exceeded all expectations and provided an unexpectedly, over-the-top experience. I have used VRBO for decades. I can say without reservation that this stay was at the very top in luxury quality and service. Thank you Dana.

Superlative experience! Had many years of special, formative memories and experiences (i.e., many meaningful “firsts”) in this home with a former owner, Ms. Esther Mary Ayers. It was a sincere and meaningful treat to have the opportunity to be present (once again) in this beloved location. Not just to enjoy the home, but to share stories, history, and to be together with my brother and life-long friends (family). Everything fell into place perfectly. Many, many thanks to Dana B.
